Gold Coast Lawn Bowlers on top of the world due to hosting the Australian Open lawn bowls tournament

The Australian Lawn Bowls Open is the southern hemisphere's biggest lawn bowls tournament and is creating a lot of excitement with the nearly 4000 Bowlers expected to compete. This will be the first time the National Lawn Bowls event has not been conducted in Victoria.
Local Lawn Bowls Club are looking forward to hosting this, Australia’s leading annual lawn bowls tournament and how it will showcase the Gold Coast area when 22 Gold Coast Lawn Bowls clubs from across the district are played for the Open, from 2015 to 2019. Of course, it’s expected many visiting Lawn Bowlers will welcome the winter sunshine and mild weather that is typical of the Queensland south east, at the time of the Tournament. And the Australian Open Lawn Bowls tournament has a prize pool of almost $140,000, but for most Bowlers it’s the fun socialising, seeing new and old friends and enjoying what the district hosting the Tournament has to offer. Being the Gold Coast, there are so many free things to do and some once in a lifetime, great value experiences to enjoy, between competing in the Australian Open Lawn Bowls in 2015.

Maybe a morning on a Gold Coast hot air balloon ride, with a Vineyard Breakfast will be on the cards, for many visiting bowlers. Especially as balloon rides in Queensland are $120pp cheaper than Victoria. Many lawn bowlers will drive to Queensland and in combination with a morning’s ballooning, it’s expected a popular day activity for visitors will be driving to Tamborine Mountain and enjoying the village walk, the boutiques and the delicious cafes. Definitely on everyone’s list will be a morning stroll, along the picturesque beaches,
And with the Commonwealth Games bowls tournament coming up in 2018.again to be held on the Gold Coast, Bowlers from all over Australia will be motivated to get in as much match practice as possible, to qualify for such an amazing international event, on home soil. As Gold Coast Lawn Bowl greens in Queensland have a reputation of running nicely, consistently over all 22 Clubs.
