Queensland Museum is the state museum of Queensland, located at the heart of Brisbane’s cultural precinct alongside the State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Queensland Museum connects visitors to Queensland, its people and their stories of the past, present and future. The recently re-opened Queensland Museum has something for everyone in the family so it definitely is a great way to spend several hours on your holidays exploring what this exciting museum has to offer.

Located also at the Museum, the Sciencentre offers an exciting, experience-rich environment that is contemporary, user-friendly and inspiring. Admission is free to the Queensland Museum except for special temporary exhibitions. The Sciencentre has an entry fee of $15.50 per adult (subject to change), there is also a family pass. And if you want to put all that science you’ve learnt into practice, why not take a ride on a Brisbane river ride or take a ride with Hot air balloon Brisbane and see in practical terms an imaginative application of the basic scientific principle that warmer air rises in cooler air. Basically, hot air is lighter than cool air, because it has less mass per unit of volume. See why hot air balloons are so huge and how many cubic meters of hot air you need to lift one on the Scenic Rim, Brisbane’s hinterland.

The Queensland Museum is an innovative, exciting and accessible museum of science, the environment and human experience of international standing. When you think of a museum, some may imagine dusty relics locked away in dimly lit display cases but you will not find anything boring here - all so interesting for all ages. Walk under a whale, discover dinosaurs, and see the State's marine reptiles and much, much more. Popular exhibitions include travelling shows from Australia and around the world as well as fascinating exhibitions revealing the story of Queensland, including its incredible prehistoric past, the "Dandiiri Maiwar" exhibition showcasing the cultures of Queensland's Aboriginal Peoples and Torres Strait Islanders and exhibitions revealing Queensland's unique biodiversity. This fascinating museum of cultural history and science tells the changing story of Queensland. The Museum is also a world-class research facility in the fields of biodiversity, geoscience and cultural history.
