Tamborine Mountain Distillery - Gold Coast Hinterland Wine Trail

At the Gold Coast Hinterland lies Australia's most awarded distillery and liquor brand in the new millennium, Tamborine Mountain Distillery. With the combination of rich red volcanic soil and fresh spring water, the abundant fruit of the mountain is fermented and distilled. A small Pot Still is used to create the superb spirit which is the essence and foundation of Liqueurs, Schnapps, Vodka and Eaux de Vie. This boutique, family owned and operated distillery, manufactures from a wide variety of unique Australian Botanicals, the range boasts 80 products and is sure to have something for everyone.

Although Michael and Alla Ward’s Distillery has only been open a short time - since July 1998, they have already established an enviable reputation as creators of high quality products. Word of mouth has seen people coming not only from all Australian states but America, Europe and Asia as well, attracts visitors from Europe, America, Canada, New Zealand and Asia.

With a very amiable friendly welcome, a visit always includes the personal touch by Michael and Alla, or maybe one of the two younger Wards who love relating to small groups in telling their story, and have deliberately made their driveway narrow to preclude busloads of people arriving en mass. The Distillery has received national and international media coverage. The Tamborine Mountain Distillery collected gold medals for drops including St Michael's Wort Herbal Spirit, made from 30 herbs, spices, roots and seeds and picked up a double-gold for its sugar cane spirit, modelled on Brazil's famous cachaca liqueur.
