    “very special port douglas morning”
never thought we would get up extra early on our holiday but this was the exception and so glad we did. bob our driver was so lovely and our pilot ben must have the best job going, he was so happy to fly us, it just made for such a wonderful morning. i wasnt expecting to see kangaroos and there were so many of them but i think the sunrise was the best part of the day. afterwards instead of going back to our apartment we went to the temple resort and had a massive breakfast and shouted ourselves a bottle of champagne, very spoilt but it was just great. definitely the only morning we did get up early though. “Uplifting adventure, mates: a 3-D airship ride of memorable proportions.”
Ascended at 0600 on December 1st, 2010 - our pilot, Jay, was professional and well-trained. He knew about adiabatic winds, turbulence, and atmospheric stratification! The large Koala balloon rose quickly (400 ft/min) up to 5,200 ft where the view was ultra-scenic: from the mountains towards the sea. Because we went higher than the other hot air ships this morning, we got to view them from above - way cool! Our ship's reflection in water below was definitely a Kodak moment. Quiet advection with the wind currents is a totally peaceful way to see the landscape, but the 30 min ride was much too short. Our descent was calm. (via Trip Advisor)

    “MUST DO”
really an incredible experience, a very different flying experience from flying in a plane. flying was very smooth, flied as the wind went. We flied even as high as 4000ft. COOL

We took the "baloon flight" on 2 Oct from Sun-rise and it turned out to be a tour of paradise! What panaoramic views! From a height, it gave excellent perspective. Nearer the ground, we could see several kangaroos playing around. We could never imagine that the baloon was so large! And, the flight was very smooth comfortable. Must mention that the 'pilot' gave excellent commentary while keeping us in good humour. Worth a repeat! - Shashank and Vaishali Inamdar, Pune, India (via Facebook)
