Market Days and Times for Cairns, Port Douglas and Tropical North Queensland
Everyone loves discovering the locals market, when on holiday. Whether it’s locally grown fruit and produce, or indigenous arts or crafts made using materials scavenged.
Every market in the tropical north Queensland region, is different, no two are alike. The Port Douglas Sunday Markets and the Yungaburra markets are voted the best by far, by visitors and locals think they are great for buying Christmas and Birthday presents.
Many of the other regional markets rotate, so please know, that not all markets are on every week and almost all are run by volunteers so the opening times can be quite short, as the stall holders also have other jobs. The markets are there passion and quite often a monthly market, requires the stallholder to cook or craft all month to stock it. We can’t recommend the local Cumquat, Mango and Tropical fruit Jam stalls, they are the best.
Where possible we’ve included a link direct to each market, double check the time it is open, before driving there. And don’t forget to try the food, even plan to have breakfast at the markets, it means the freshest food and local coffee always.
After your hot air balloon ride why not tour the Atherton Tablelands and visit the local markets. Fresh local produce, arts & crafts, hand crafted jewelly, aboriginal artifacts and much more are available. Self drive up to Mareeba for a morning of ballooning and then drive south towards Atherton and Yungaburra to find some of the best markets Far North Queenland has to offer before heading back down the Gillies Range Road back to Cairns.
