A COVID-Safe Experience

Travelling with Hot Air is a COVID-safe experience. Our COVID-safe Management Plan is supported by the Tourism and Accommodation Industry, and aligns with best-practice recommendations published by the Department of Health, and Safe Work Australia.

Importantly, the QLD Government has published updated requirements for businesses for Public Health and Social Measures linked to vaccination status. You can familiarise yourself with these measures here.

As part of these measures, once Queensland reaches the milestone of 80% fully dosed, as a tourism experience, Hot Air will be permitted to allow only fully vaccinated staff and customers to enter our workplace. 

Trained Staff

The friendly staff that greet you in the morning, drive the support vehicles, and pilot our magnificent hot air balloons, are all trained in our procedures under our COVID-safe Management Plan, and have undertaken COVID-19 infection control training through the Department of Health.

What should you expect?

You can expect procedures related to the careful management of your morning with us that aim to uphold a safe hot air balloon experience. Many of these you will already be familiar with, such as reminders to maintain distance from our staff and people other than your family group, availability of hand sanitiser, and access to face masks.

Your fresh-air hot air balloon experience will be all the MORE memorable and enjoyable in the knowledge that we are operating to approved regulatory guidelines.

Above and Beyond

Other procedures that you can take comfort in are the behind-the-scenes work that we undertake before and after each morning’s operation. Staff undergo the same screening every day, and in addition have temperature checks recorded prior to starting work. 

Our vehicles, baskets and work places are cleaned, equipment such as mobile phones and iPads, GPS units and other technical equipment is similarly cleaned. This keeps our workplace safe, maintains a healthy environment, and protects you as our valued customer. Our cleaning solution has been specifically sourced from the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) for use against COVID-19, as published by the Australian Government Department of Health.

Pre-travel

Before you travel we’ll ask you some screening questions which includes confirmation of the names of the people in your party, and a contact number. Again, you may be familiar with this process through other recent experiences, and it not only helps to ensure that everyone that travels is healthy, but assists us in our obligations to maintain our contact tracing register. We ask our staff the same set of questions!

We do ask that if you are unwell, you contact us and arrange to postpone your hot air balloon experience. We will be more than happy to work with you to accommodate changes due to illness.

You should take time to ensure that your knowledge of existing travel restrictions, border closures, hotspots and potential exposure sites is up to date. We ask you to confirm that your movements up to your date of travel with us is in line with current Government and health advice, both State and Commonwealth.

We request you to review advice from the Department of Health, and make an informed decision as to whether you are at greater risk of more serious illness with COVID-19.

Whilst we endeavour to provide as safe an experience as possible, vulnerable customers who are comfortable attending our hot air ballooning experience are advised to take their own additional safety precautions and are notified that the business cannot guarantee any specific level of their safety with respect to COVID-19.
