“spectacular, fun and a little exciting- even for a local”
When you grow up in an area you tend not to do the "tourist" activities because everyday life takes priority, so when we where given a voucher to go up with hot air we were a little excited. The booking process was so easy we just rang up a couple of days beforehand and there was room for us on the date of our choice. We got picked up from an area close to our home and were taken to Mareeba, where the balloons ,5 in all where almost fully inflated. We were on the second flight which allowed us to watch the first flight take off and then chase them across the countryside. They landed and we got on board with a few pictures we were off. The takeoff was super smooth as was the whole flight. The guide informed us that Mareeba is one of the best places in the world for ballooning flying due to its geography. Many of the international clients and us aswell enjoyed seeing the kangaroos in their natural environment. As we landed I think we were all secretly hoping for the basket to tip over however our expert pilot made the perfect landing not even a bounce. We then helped the guys pack the balloon up- this was actually really enjoyable and informative too. We then made our way back down to Cairns and where home by 9:00am. A perfect way to spend our morning. We will definitely be recommending this activity to our friends and visitors. (via Trip Advisor)
