Drive yourself to either Nerang or Canungra - your booking confirmation will have the exact address and meeting time. From there, our air-conditioned coach takes you to the launch site. We finalise the exact location on the morning based on conditions, and since we land somewhere different to where we take off, private vehicles can't follow. Note: hotel pick-up is not included in this special.

Approximately one hour inland from Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast Hinterland is one of Queensland's most spectacular natural regions — and one of the finest hot air ballooning locations in the world.
The Gold Coast Hinterland provides near-perfect conditions for ballooning, with temperate weather, stable winds, and breathtaking views across Lamington National Park and Mt Tamborine. Our launch sites are specifically chosen to deliver sweeping aerial views and incredible photo opportunities, with local wildlife and birds a frequent highlight of the flight.
No two flights follow the same path. The wind decides, and that's exactly what makes every morning extraordinary.

Meet our Chief Pilot, Jay
Jay, originally from Munich, Germany, has been flying hot air balloons for almost 30 years. Since his first flight in 1997, he has developed extensive experience across a variety of terrains and conditions. For nearly 20 years, Jay has been an integral part of the Hot Air team, guiding passengers safely over the stunning landscapes of the Gold Coast Hinterland.
As a CASA-endorsed pilot, Jay flies Australia’s largest commercial balloons, ensuring that each flight is smooth, safe, and memorable. He has a deep appreciation for the diverse beauty of the Hinterland - lush green pastures, rolling hills, and serene waterways make it one of his favourite places to fly.
One of Jay's most memorable flights was above the Gold Coast Hinterland, where he covered 43 km over the valley, offering incredible views of the region's unique landscapes and wildlife. His passion for ballooning is evident in his enthusiasm to share this unforgettable experience with first-time passengers.
