Koala and River Cruises, Brisbane

Koala and River Cruises (formerly Mirimar Cruises) operates a Koala and River Cruise daily, taking you up the Brisbane River to the popular Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. It's uniquely Australian, and the perfect way to visit Lone Pine and get up close with the sanctuary's very cute koalas.

Many locals and visitors enjoy the Koala and River Cruise every day, not only as a way to reach Lone Pine but for the views and sounds of Brisbane's most attractive waterfront suburbs. The cruise departs daily at 10am from Cultural Centre Pontoon, on the boardwalk outside the Queensland State Library - a short stroll from Queen Street Mall, across the Victoria Bridge.

Home-made snacks and light meals cooked on board are available during the cruise. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, providing informative commentary on the surrounding areas that makes the journey even more enjoyable.

🐨 Koala close-up encounters

As of July 2024, Lone Pine no longer offers koala "holding" - instead, you can enjoy a close-up encounter where you stand beside a koala in its tree and give it a gentle pat, for a fee. It's a wonderful way to get near these iconic animals while prioritising their comfort and wellbeing.

Highly recommended - plan your day around cruising up the Brisbane River with Koala and River Cruises and enjoying an unforgettable koala experience at Lone Pine. A balloon flight with Hot Air Balloon Brisbane is another great way to enjoy a panoramic view of Brisbane's Scenic Rim.
