Are there any fitness requirements for Hot Air Ballooning?

Hot air ballooning doesn’t require a high level of fitness, but passengers do need a reasonable level of mobility for safety reasons. This includes being able to walk short distances from the bus to the balloon, board and exit the basket safely, stand for the duration of the flight, and adopt the landing position on landing, which is a standard safety requirement for all passengers.

Our baskets are approximately 1.2 metres high and include built-in footholds. We provide steps and guided assistance when boarding and disembarking; however, passengers must be able to move safely under their own control, as our crew are unable to lift or carry passengers.

After landing, most flights offer the opportunity to take part in the balloon pack-up, which many guests enjoy. Participation is completely optional, and guests who prefer not to take part are very welcome to stand back and enjoy the experience while the aircraft is secured.

If you’re unsure whether ballooning will be suitable for you, we’re always happy to discuss this with you before booking.
