Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard and Winery is found on Hartley Road, Mount Tamborine. Purchased in 1986, Cedar Creek released its first wines in 1987 and was one of the first eight pioneering wineries in the region. With four generations of agricultural heritage and decades of experience, the winery has pursued excellence, producing some of the valley's best wines and twice being recognised as "Winery of the Year." Set on 22 acres with Cedar Creek flowing through the property into Wild Duck Lake, the estate offers stunning views and excellent growing slopes, also making it a popular wedding venue. Enjoy wine tastings at the year-round wine shop, explore the vineyard trail, join an educational winery tour, descend into the purpose-built Glow Worm Cave to see thousands of glow worms up close, or relax with lunch at the Glow Worm & Butterfly Café.
The winery grows two grape varieties, Chambourcin and Verdelho, sourcing other varieties from top vineyards around Queensland. The range of whites includes Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, unwooded Chardonnay and Chardonnay/Semillon, alongside a range of reds and dessert wines. When you visit the Queensland Wine Centre, you'll experience one of the largest ranges of Queensland wines under one roof, showcasing some of the most awarded and specialised varietals such as Durif, Tempranillo and Mourvèdre, sourced predominantly from the Granite Belt and South Burnett regions. With up to 90 wines on display and tasting lists changing monthly, returning visitors can keep tasting their way through Queensland's finest.
Don't waste time - you can visit this fine winery after experiencing a balloon ride with Hot Air Balloon Gold Coast. As the ballooning tour takes place early in the morning, you'll have plenty of time to visit the vineyard and winery afterwards, following a delicious breakfast at another vineyard, O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyard. The tour includes a spectacular balloon ride over the Hinterland and a vineyard breakfast.
If you're after a day of wine tasting, sightseeing and relaxed dining, visit the Glow Worm & Butterfly Café at Cedar Creek Estate. Admire the lake and gardens from the gazebo or veranda, or settle into the cosy warmth of the Hamblin Room if you prefer indoor dining - complete with log fires in winter. Whether you're after a light bite or a long, lingering lunch (accompanied by an estate wine, of course), the café offers a relaxed spot for a Mt Tamborine meal with a view.
