Witches Falls Winery is an impressive Queensland winery located in the Gold Coast Hinterland, just one hour from Brisbane and around 40 minutes from Surfers Paradise. The winery is dedicated to quality winemaking through careful attention to detail, using the most appropriate technology, methods and resources to create good varietal wines. Witches Falls is a small, highly regarded winery that sources premium grapes from the Granite Belt to produce a select range of quality, handmade Queensland wines.
The quality of their wine speaks for itself, backed by a strong run of awards. As a small operation rather than a large commercial one, Witches Falls offers a friendly, informal atmosphere. Visit for a cellar door tour and tastings of the various vintages, often with Jon, the owner and master vintner, on hand. Witches Falls Winery was established by Jon and Kim Heslop, with their first vintage in 2003 and the cellar door officially opening in October 2004. Jon has over 12 years' experience in the wine industry, having made wine in the Barossa Valley, the Hunter Valley, and in 2008 at Domaine Chantal Lescure in Burgundy. For any doubters about Queensland wine, this is well worth a visit - a trip to the cellar door and surrounding area makes for a great day out, with some very tidy wines waiting to be discovered. A membership club is also available, offering significant discounts.

There are three tiers in the Witches Falls range. The Granite Belt range includes Fiano, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Wild Ferment Range includes Viognier, Chardonnay, Fiano, Grenache and Pinot Noir. The flagship Prophecy range offers rich, complex wines that will benefit from years of careful cellaring. Jon's deep interest in experimenting with progressive vinification methods to achieve exceptional, interesting results shows throughout the winery - spend some time with him and you'll notice his commitment to doing things properly, one of the main reasons this winery has quickly earned its reputation as one of Queensland's major players.
