Lamington National Park - Gold Coast Hinterland

Lamington National Park is celebrated for its natural beauty, ancient rainforests, spectacular birdlife, towering trees, waterfalls, walking tracks and sweeping mountain views. Part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, the park draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to the Green Mountains section in the Gold Coast Hinterland. It is also recognised by BirdLife International as part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area, owing to its significance in conserving several threatened bird species.

🥾 Walking Tracks

The park is laced with more than 150 km of clearly marked walks, many constructed during the Great Depression. Tracks range from short strolls to steep full-day hikes of up to seven hours. The well-maintained Border Track follows the Queensland-New South Wales border along the top of the McPherson Range, linking Binna Burra to O'Reilly's guesthouse at Green Mountains - a distance of around 23 kilometres, completable one way in seven to eight hours.

🎈 See it From the Air

The approach to Lamington National Park lies 36 kilometres south of Canungra - which is also the starting point for a morning hot air balloon flight with Hot Air Balloon Gold Coast. From the air, the views over Lamington are simply stunning - a completely different perspective on this breathtaking landscape. The tour also includes a vineyard breakfast at O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards.
