If you are staying in Brisbane city then we highly recommend a walk through Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, a must-visit place in the city. Located on a point known as Gardens Point, the gardens area has frontages on both Alice Street and George Street, within easy walking distance from CBD. The City Botanic Gardens is the city's oldest park, originally planted by convicts in 1825 with food crops to feed the prison colony. It is now considered to be one of the most important non-indigenous cultural landscapes in Queensland and is recognised for its natural and historic values.

Due to changes in Brisbane area flight conditions, some years ago, balloons no longer fly over Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, as they previously did for many years but if you are staying for a short stay in Brisbane CBD and would like to fly, try Hot Air Balloon Brisbane who has ballooning tours available daily with door to door return transfers to your Brisbane accommodation. Experience your first Hot Air ballooning over the Brisbane Scenic Rim, followed by delicious breakfast at O'Reilly's Vineyard. Ballooning tour includes return door to door transfers from Brisbane, a spectacular hot air balloon ride, fun balloon pack-up, a flight certificate and breakfast at O'Reilly's Vineyard.

Visiting at different times of the morning or late afternoon, see Brisbane City Botanic Gardens living museum of plant collections, displaying early heritage specimens through to present day exotic and native plantings. The gardens has unique attractions such as Bamboo Grove, Weeping Fig Avenue, Mangrove Boardwalk and ornamental ponds. You can also join for free guided walks that are available from Monday to Saturdays (excluding public holidays). The walks are at a gentle pace, goes for approximately one hour with friendly and experienced Volunteer Guides. Or walk thorugh the gardens at your own pace with self-guided map that can be downloaded from Brisbane City Botanic Gardens website.

There is also City Gardens Cafe (originally the curator's house) where you can enjoy a cold drink or a bite for lunch with the locals. Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is a oasis in city that provides a lush green haven for city workers and visitors. It’s also a favourite spot for people watching and for local fitness fans, who do many and varied types of exercise in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.
