Cotswold Track - Mount Maroon Summit

In spring this summit offers spectacular wildflower displays against the craggy peaks of the Scenic Rim. Allow a full day to reach the summit safely and return.

⚠️ Please note: The climb up South Ridge (Cronan Creek Track) is rugged and steep, for experienced walkers only.

Mee-bor-rum Circuit - Mt French

Passes through heathland, featuring the East Cliff lookout with views of Tamborine, Lamington and Mount Barney. Wheelchair access is possible to the heathland only; beyond this the track is rough and uneven.

Mt Edwards Summit

6km · 3.5 hours

Accessible from the Moogerah Dam picnic area at the end of Moogerah Connection Road, across the dam wall to the park entrance. Experienced walkers only - there are no formed tracks, signs or facilities.

North Cliff Track - Mt French

Leads to Logans lookout with panoramic views over the Fassifern Valley, the Main Range escarpment to the west and Flinders Peak to the east. Suitable for wheelchairs with assistance.

Sylvesters Lookout - Goomburra

940m · 30 mins

Magnificent views over the coastal plains, including the southern tip of Lake Moogerah and the border ranges. Starts from Lookout Road - a dry-weather-only road, closed by gate during wet weather.

⚠️ Please note: Mt Edwards Summit has sheer cliffs and slippery rocks, particularly after rain. Self-reliance required.

Rainforest Circuit

Starts at the eastern end of the crest carpark, passing the Allan Cunningham monument. The Fassifern Valley lookout track forms the eastern part of the circuit.

Fassifern Valley Lookout

A spectacular view over the Moogerah Peaks, Fassifern Valley and Lake Moogerah. Forms the eastern part of the Rainforest Circuit.

Mount Cordeaux Track

Known to Aboriginal people as Niamboyoo, this 1135m peak's track zigzags through rainforest to exposed upper slopes. Giant spear lilies bloom in spring and early summer.

Mount Mitchell Track

10.2km · 3 hours

A graded track to the twin peaks of Mount Mitchell (1168m, known as Cooyinnirra), through rainforest and open eucalypt forest to a knife-edge ridge above a sheer cliff.

Heritage Trail - Spicer's Gap

A self-guiding walk from the Governor's Chair carpark, following the historic road and showing various road construction methods.

⚠️ Please note: Take care at cliff edges on the Mount Cordeaux and Mount Mitchell tracks, and when crossing the highway to reach the Mount Mitchell trailhead.

Palm Grove Circuit

Curtis Falls Track - Joalah

Begins in wet eucalypt forest beneath towering flooded gums, merging into lush rainforest with crows nest and staghorn ferns visible in the canopy above.

Sandy Creek Circuit - The Knoll

Lush rainforest with towering trees, and a side-track to Cameron Falls lookout with clear-day views to Mount Flinders and southern Brisbane suburbs. Travels close to steep cliff edges.

Witches Falls Circuit

3.1km · 1 hour

Zigzags through open banksia forest into rainforest with giant strangler figs, passing seasonal lagoons surrounded by piccabeen palm groves. The waterfall flows only after recent rain.

Caves Circuit

Winds through open forest and rainforest to the Binna Burra Mountain Lodge road entrance, with excellent views into the Coomera Valley and one of the largest intact hoop pine stands along the Darlington Range. Koalas often seen in open forest sections.

Bellbird Lookout Track

Branches off the Ships Stern circuit, emerging at a natural lookout above a steep cliff with views of Ships Stern, Turtle Rock, Egg Rock and Numinbah Valley. Keep children under close supervision.

Ships Stern Circuit

The most accessible cool temperate rainforest in Lamington, home to the northernmost Antarctic beech in Australia - a living link to the ancient forests of Gondwana.

Lower Bellbird Circuit

Branches off the Ships Stern circuit through dry rainforest, emerging at a former dairy farm clearing. Part of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk.

⚠️ Please note: The Caves Circuit contains unstable surfaces and possible rockfalls near Kweebani Cave - avoid lingering near the cave. The Bellbird Lookout has no handrails and sits above a high, steep cliff.

Tree Top Walkway - O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat

The Booyong Boardwalk leads from O'Reilly's to a series of suspension bridges 16m up into the rainforest canopy, with an optional climb to a crow's nest platform 30m above the ground. Not recommended for those with a fear of heights.

An excellent view of Morans Falls and Morans Creek gorge, with layers of ancient volcanic lava flows visible along the valley. Please stay on the track to prevent erosion.

Leads to Picnic Rock and Elabana Falls through rainforest, past pink-barked brush box trees dated to 1500 years old - the oldest ever carbon-dated on Australia's mainland. Walk clockwise, exiting via Elabana Falls.
