Love was well and truly in the air on a recent Hot Air Balloon Gold Coast flight — and not just up in the sky. After floating peacefully over breathtaking landscapes, one couple took the next step in their journey together… with a fluffy surprise waiting on the ground.

Our groom-to-be, a tradie and plumber from South Africa, had been quietly planning something unforgettable for his partner from New Zealand. The couple, who are soon to travel the world and live across different parts of Asia, made their Hot Air Balloon experience part of a much bigger adventure — one that began with a heartfelt “yes.”

🦙 A Proposal with a Twist

Following their scenic group flight, the couple arrived at a stunning vineyard for a post-flight celebration — and a life-changing question. But this wasn’t your typical proposal — it came with a very special guest: Ernie the Alpaca, proudly delivering the engagement ring.

Ernie, a beloved member of the alpaca family at Mountview Alpaca Farm, is known for his gentle nature, cuddly charm, and love of attention (and food!). Often seen wearing a flower wreath, he’s a local celebrity and brings smiles to everyone he meets.

In a quiet, intimate moment between the vines, the groom-to-be asked the question that would change their lives. And she said yes — with joy radiating from them both.
